Panachikkadu Festival

The Panachikkadu Temple, otherwise called the Dakshana (Mookambika of the South) Temple, dedicated to the goddess Saraswati.  This temple located in Panachikkadu in Kottayam region of Kerala . The  god adored in Panachickadu Saraswati Temple is Lord Vishnu. The icon of Goddess Saraswati could be seen in a rectangular pond  like structure which look like being cut out of a granite hillock. The pond  is secured with lavish green creeper plants and the original icon of Saraswathy stays in this regular spot. There is an alternative idol of the goddess, in which all poojas are performed. The primary idol  is currently secured with creepers and bushes and is not obviously visible. The leaves of the creepers are viewed as Saraswati takes off. The spring water flows ceaselessly until it touches the feet of the Devi. This water never dries, not even in the crest time of summer. Since the Devi stays on such a saras (little creek), the Goddess is called Saraswati.

 

At Panachikkadu, the major festival is Saraswathi Pooja in the  Malayalam month of thulam which falls approximately to the months of September/ October. This celebration, otherwise called Navaratri significance nine nights, is an enormous event and the temple is visited by a large number of devotees throughout this time. Throughout these nine nights and ten days, nine manifestations of Shakti/Devi are worshiped. The tenth day is known as  Vijayadashami or "Dussehra" (likewise spelled Dasara). On Vijaya Dashami day, the books are ceremoniously taken out for perusing and composing in the wake of worshiping Sarasvati.

Vidyarambham is held on Vijayadashami (last day of Navarathri). On that  day large number of people arrives at this temple to initiate the education of their children. Vijaya Dashami day is viewed  as propitious for starting the youngsters into writing and reading, which is called Vidyarambham. Countless kids are started into the universe of letters on this day in Kerala. This function is hung on the Vijayadashami day, which is the latest day of the Navaratri celebration. A special ghee enriched  with Goddess Saraswatha Manthram is distributed to devotees in the temple. It is belived  that the admission of this ghee advances the knowledge of kids for higher education  . Navratri is an essential significant celebration and is commended with extraordinary enthusiasm all over India. Diwali the celebration of lights is praised twenty days after Dasara.   Irrespective of religion, position and doctrine everybody is welcome to take part  in Vidyarambham function.
