Thazhathangady Boat race

Thazhathangady Boat race is held during  Onam, the Harvest festival of Kerala. The boat race is conducted either August or September months. Kummanam is a vast village which spread on the both side of the Meenachil river. It lies in Thiruvarp and Aymanam Gramapanchayath of Kottayam district in kerala. Tiruvarp and Ayanam areas are connected by a bridge named as Thazhathangadi palam.
On this season people in the nearby village also comes and watch the famous Thazhathanagadi boat race. It is a week long event at Thazhathangadi. Kummanam is close to the traveler street from Kumarakom to Thekkady.Main attraction in the thazhathagandi boat race is snake boat race. Many other kind of boats includes churulans,odis, and irrutukuthies are participating in this boat race. Peoples from neighbouring village and neighbouring cities are coming to watch the boat race
