Rajiv Gandhi trophy boat race

Rajiv Gandhi trophy boat race is held consistently on commemoration of the late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and his wife Smt. Sonia Gandhi's visit to kuttanadu (pulincunnu) on 5 September 1985. Rajiv Gandhi ever rolling trophy was given by Shri. K. Karunakaran the former Chief Minister of kerala. The Chief Minister of Kerala Late shri. K. Karunakaran  indicated his exceptionally distinct fascination to this endeavor and gave the ever rolling "Rajiv Gandhi Trophy" for the benefit of the Government of Kerala.

 

The race is held at Pulincunnoo, the heart of Kuttanadu. With the magnificent Pulincunnoo Church in the back-ground with unhindered perceivability both sides of the waterway from beginning to end, this is by a wide margin the best spot for such occasions anyplace.  Boat race is an extravagant for the people of Kuttanad.In this competition snake boats of repute and great performance will be permitted.

In addition to boat race, there will be a display of old and conventional forms rowing, for example, "Vechupattu Thuzhachil" and "Karakkikuthu Thuzhachil" by three snake watercrafts. These sorts of rowing which are currently getting wiped out, will be an added attraction.
