Agasthyakoodam is a tall peak within Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats. Part of the Sahyadri range,of mountains. Agasthyakoodam, at a height of 1,890m above sea level, is the second highest peak in kerala and is 32 km from Neyyar Dam and 23 km from Bonacaud, near Ponmudi. Around 2,000 medicinal plants used in Ayurvedic treatments are found here.

The peak of Agasthyarkoodam can be reached only by trekking up to it. Trekking is allowed based on strict guidelines and is open to pilgrims during January to mid-March. The season from December to April is allowed for trekking, for which a forest pass has to be obtained the wildlife office in Thiruvananthapuram. Agasthyakoodam trekking is not an easy task. It needs to get permission from Thiruvananthapuram wild life warden before trekking. Forest department will provide entry pass on January month of every year from thiruvananthapuram forest office at PTP nagar. They will allot a date for trekking.
