Arjuna Nritham

Arjuna Nritham is otherwise called Mayilpeeli Thookkam, is a custom art of Kerala performed by men of Ezhava group and is performed in the Bhagavathy temples of south Kerala, mainly in Kollam, Alappuzha and Kottayam areas. Arjuna Nritham is committed to Arjuna, the industrious scholar of Guru Dhronacharya. This  traditional art form is performed in  Bhadrakali Temples of Kerala.This dance form have been mentioned in Mahabharatha.  The dance is a manifestation of reverence to Goddess Bhadrakali, who was adored by Arjuna.
Arjuna Nritham is made considerably more unique by the trademark pieces of clothing of the entertainers which comprise of apparel made up of peacock feathers.The different movements are nearly like Kalarippayattu procedures. The dancers have  their faces painted  green and wear different headgears. The throughout the night Arjuna Nirtham is performed in solo or in pairs by the dancers.The strictly cadence based tunes are called "Mayil Pattukal" or "Kavithangal" and deals with different topics of the Puranas.Ekatala, Roop Tala, Charpata Tala and Panchari Tala are a portion of the talas utilized as a part of Arjuna Nritham. .Chenda, Tala Chenda, llathalam and maddalam are the instrument used within this art form.
